While it is clear that the Congress has lost people's mandate for a second term, it has now said the party is willing to support JD(S) in case the latter wishes to form a government.

Sources in Congress said the move is to disallow BJP from forming a government. "Congress will write to Governor expressing unconditional support to JD(S)," sources said.

The JD(S), is, however, yet to spell its stand.
