Ghulam Nabi’s Political ICU

You heard it right from Mirch Masala last week. Congress prodigal boy Tariq Anwar, till now in NCP, has ‘repatriated’ and is not only likely to become a general secretary but hold the charge of UP, giving GhulamNabi Azad myocardial infarctions. So dropping all old grievances and attritions, he has rushed to Salman Khurshid and Congress strongman Ahmad Patel, seeking a remedial strategy. Azad also rushed off to Katihar to assess how much sheen Anwar still retains in his old constituency. Tariq, of course, is also doing his homework.

Last week, Azad organised a large meeting of UP’s Muslim leaders in New Delhi with the help of Fazl-e-Mehmood. Meanwhile, the Congress in Bihar is angry because they do not want the ‘interference of any Gujarati politician’ there, reference being to AlpeshThakore and Jignesh Mevani. Finally, Azad knocked on the doors of senior Congress leader Shyam Sundar Singh Dhiraj, but was sent back with empty hands.
